I will be graduating in May with a bachelors degree in psychology. After taking a year or so off I want to go back and get my masters degree. I am not sure if I should get a masters in social work or psychology. I want the degree that will give me the most versatility and opportunity. I really want to work in the mental health field as a counselor or be a school counselor. What option should I choose?

I don't know much about the career prospects for a Masters in Psych. My Mom first got a Masters in Social Work (this was back when social worker was one of the few professions women could have.) But she burned out on social work, the low income, the tragic family situations she dealt with, underfunding, not feeling respected in her profession, etc. She also loved Psychology and wanted to be able to teach. She ended up going back for her Ph.D. in Psychology and became a professor. After many years of teaching she then decided to go back for an MFCC qualification to do Family Counseling. At the time she said there wasn't much she could have done with a Masters in Psychology. Things are probably different now. It all depends what you want to do. With a Masters you could probably teach in a small college or community college. You could become an industrial psychologist (psych of business environment), social worker, counselor, school psychologist.
