I am not sure exactly where you are at in your education.

IT, Information Technology covers a wide area of disciplines and is usually divided into two sub-categories: CIS, computer information services which deals mostly with software applications and CS, computer science which deals mostly with hardware setup and issues. These may be called different names but the categories are the same.

HR, Human Resource studies deal mostly with the interaction of people, employment law and company management policies.

MBA, Master of Business Administration specializes in business administrative techniques that can cover human resources, finance, accounting and management, depending upon the specialization.

If your goal is to become a CIO, Chief Information Officer then getting and IT degree in CIS and then getting your MBA, heavy on the finance would be the way to go.

If your goal were to become a CEO, Chief Executive Officer then I would go with the HR and follow it up with an MBA.

These are only my opinions. It gets easier though; do you like computers better than people? If the answer is yes then take your IT classes, if no then take your HR classes. This, of course is dependant upon these three choices being your only options.

What are your career goals? HR and marketing are vastly different paths and will provide very different careers for you. For one thing, HR does not logically feed into any other role other than HR because it does not allow one to obtain any tangible skills aside from evaluating talent and managing projects. Marketing can potentially provide avenues into just about anything because it typically takes a certain type of person to succeed in marketing. You'd have options to jump to something else or try something new. Did you know that many CEO's in the Fortune 500's come from marketing backgrounds? You really have to evaluate what you want to do. HR can be a lucrative career as well if you truly enjoy it and stick with it. It's all up to you; either option might work out, but it comes down to what's more important to you. Good luck!
