My mom recently hear something about the HDTV like if you dont have it then you wont be able to watch tv or it wont come in very good starting around the first of december or the first of janurary. I dont know much about it and i have not had much success in looking up is there anyone who had any clue as to what they are talking about or is this just a myth or rumor that started up. They're also talking about some kind of HDTV converter so that you can be able to watch it. And these converters are being sold at BEST BUY.

thats all i know for now add more as soon as i know.

tnx

its not like they take polls or have secret cameras in our house. So how do they do it? I mean, wouldnt i be smarter to relese things on DVD first, cause ppl u cnt wait for the show so theyll buy the DVDs first? I think its for ratings but cant they get ratings based on how many dvds they sell? so my main question is how the get show ratings.

I'm thinking about buying the 46" Sharp Aquos LCD 1080p HDTV (10,000:1 contrast ratio) from Circuit City on "Black Friday." It lists for $2499.00 at Circuit City and $2299.00 at Best Buy and it will be on sale for $1299.00. Seems too good to be true? What is your opion of this TV and price?

Wanting to buy dad an HDTV plasma or LCD TV for Christmas. He wants to start getting into blu ray disc as well. The salesman at best buy told my mom she has to get a "1080p" HDTV in order to play blu ray. Is that true or was he just trying to make a larger sale? I want to know if we can buy a less expensive "720p" HDTV and still use it for blu ray...

Thanks for any help!!

I own a 6 month old Sony Bravia HDTV with built-in tuner. I have read several similar question/anwers and can't seem to get a proper hold on this subject. I too have had salesman try to sell me "S" video cables/audio cables/HD rabbit ears/etc with nothing helping. They basically tell me to contact rabbit ears up to satelite box and I'm good to go (does not work). Should I be able to view "available in HD" shows with these magic ears? Do I need to change to a certain channel? According to antennaweb.org I live no more than 20 miles from the most distant tower and I have flat terrain around my home in West Texas. How do I get the local ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX chennels in HD? Please provide specific details.

Can some please recommend a decent TV (720p) for use on a Xbox 360?

I'm also on a low budget, so highest I can spend is around $375, so largest size I can probably get is around 19-20"

Thanks in advance

I am buying a new tv for my daughter. I just recently bought a Vizio 37" for the living room and like it very much. But I need a smaller one for my daughter. I want to buy a 19" (or maybe a little larger) LCD tv. On my current tv I have the connection to be able to plug my satellite into it and also plug my computer into it. I want to do this for her too. I think I found one I like...but I need to make sure it has the connections. Don't need to buy it and it not be what I need. I know there's s-video, and composite and a whole bunch more...but what are the names of the connections I need on the tv to plug in my cable/satellite and her computer. Thanks!

We assumed that if we had a wide screen TV we should get wide screen DVD's, however, the picture still has black bands at the top and bottom. Shouldn't the picture take up the entire screen? I hope this question makes sense...

It still shows blue and green fine, but the red stopped showing up. I tried different inputs to make sure it wasn't the cable or the input. What could cause that?

Just received a new 37 inch 1080i HD from Samsung. I've hooked up my XBox360 via a 5 pin digital AV cable which is switched to the 'HD' setting (changed Xbox settings to 1080i). The actual XBox 360 games look great, but I watched a DVD and it was blurred, and looked almost like a TV programme. When people moved it was especially blurry- and disappointing. Notably worse than my 6 year old standard TV which makes no sense!!

Is watching DVD's on an Xbox360 a no-no when it comes to HD tv's, is a HDMI connection necessary?
