I am trying to show a relative an example of High Definition, is there anywhere on the internet I can download or find a video in HD to show them (I am using aHD monitor).

A P.C. monitor however good a quality it, is not really the best thing for showing HD in all its Glory.
Monitors are usually only about 19" to maybe 32" at the biggest.
Ordinary TV (which believe it or not was the original Hi-DEF 30 years ago!) Is designed to be shown on TV's up to 32" anyway.
Your best bet is to take them to a shop where they have HD Ready TV's (showing a Hi-def source!) on TV's Ranging from 32" to 60" and ask the Store assistant to show a comparison of the source (Like Sky movies Standard and HD and switch between the two.)

Lots of HD content on the Web.

Microsoft has HD wmv files and many studios allow you to download their movie previewes in HD.

A computer monitor is so small, it probably won't impress anybody. Take them to a TV store and show them a 60".

There is the link. There is 720p, and 1080p on some lower down.
