I am currently attempting to set up a new tv with an old receiver. The tv is hooked up directly to a cable box through the video cables. The audio cables(red and white cables) on the other hand were hooked directly into the red and white slots on video 1 of the receiver. After turning everything on and setting the receiver to video 1, the video is fine but the audio balance is off. When watching a movie on tv for example, the music's volume is normal but the voices are a faint whisper. If anyone can provide some insight into my error here I would be greatful.

I'm looking to upgrade my television and always like the best. What's the difference between a Plasma, LCD, and a DLP? Which is the best?

I am considering buying a plasma tv (possibly a Samsung tommorow) and wanted to know if the Plasmas still have problems with burn-in? I have one LCD in the house and wanted something a little less expensive in a 50 or 60 inch for my bedroom than the LCD. How is the experience you've had with burnin and resolving it? I play PS3 alot and watch a LOT of DVD's.

Ok, I moved from woods to small city. Im offered charter cable tv, I ordered thinking i was going to get the same reception as satilite I had so i ordered a digital box plus dvr ( which i never got ). Turn on box , turn on tv and suddenly I felt disgusted. I went from 65 bucks of clear digital reception over 200 channels including movie channels to now 65 bucks of analog signal with no movie channels and only 40 channels of which none have clear reception, cannot even see the time on them? plus a 40 buck installation charge. Anyone who thinks cable is better than satelite must be on pills and living in Neverland Ranch. If they will offer like 70 channels for like 25 bucks than it would be a good deal, but at 65 bucks its a total rip off. Who else thinks so?

My husband said he read that all tv's will have to be able to pick up digital, hdtv signals by 2009. We want to purchase a new tv later this week, but I'm not sure what to look for on the box. What SPECIFICALLY am I supposed to look for to know I have purchased one that will comply with the guidelines for 2009?

I have seen a few that say something like 'set up for current and future use'. I am assuming that is referring to the 2009 guidelines, but not sure. Do I look for one that says it is HDTV ready, HDMI ready, analog/digital ready? I thought the analog wouldn't work after 2009. I'm lost. Please help.

I always used to buy Sony equipment but wish to buy more locally. Not up for discussion as this is also my own little way of protesting at the continued unecessary hunting of whales.
The question is "does anyone in the european union make televisions"? If you wish to make smart comments regarding the quality of those tv's thats fine by me and remember the whaling protest is personal to me - if you are OK with it, keep buying Jap stuff and I won't knock you. Thanks in advance to anyone who gives me a serious answer as I need a new TV before Christmas.

If I buy a CableCARD on ebay that was used on another Cable TV network from like NY can I use it on the one down here in FL Bright House? I'm guessing I would have to program it to make it work down here on my TV with a CableCARD slot. Is there a program I could use to program it if I put the CableCARD in my laptops slot.

Also is a CableCARD just a Flash card with the decryption info on it?

Thanks in advance

I don't have too much space, so I don't need a huge TV for my PS3. The problem is that I couldn't find a small Full HD TV. May be you can help? Are there any rumors on 25"-29" Full HD's coming out. Or may be I won't see any difference on such sizes between SDTV and Full HD?
Thanx!

The contrast brightness on the LCD tends to hurt my eyes and I've been told that the plasma tv's contrast isn't quite a glaring because the lines are muted a little.

I was at the store today looking to buy a HDMI cord to hook up my Playstation 3. There was a Monster Cable cord for $119 and another HDMI cord from another brand for $49. Both were the same length. Does it really matter enough to spend more than double on a cord?

I have been trying to reprogram this television with a 'universal' converter. I follow the instructions for the converter but nothing happens. I also took out the batteries overnight ... it is supposed to clear the converter ... but that didn't seem to work either ... I need to get to the setup to change my TV back to cable since it was off cable for a while. Thanks.
