the further you sit away from the screen the less youll see the quality. 10 to 12 feet sounds fine and i would personally recommand a 1080 for anything bigger then 50 inch. the only difference between the two if you dont know by any chance is the amount of pixels on the screen 1080 being a little over 2 million and 720 is about 1 million. when your walking around stores compare the two close up and further away. the 720 in a 50 inch might look a little bit more darker then the 1080 in the same size simply because the deviders between the pixels are slighly larger.

if you happen to check cnet and their reviews they will tell you that most ppl can't tell the difference between the 720 to 1080 up until 50 inch. and its alot more difficult to tell that at more then 5 feet away

higher resolution always means a more realistic picture. No matter the distance or size of the screen.

definitely go for the 1080p. 720p is going to be pushed out of circulation soon anyway. 1080p will be the new 480.

I would go with the 1080p to future proof your purchase.

Most broadcast HD is only 720, but more and more bluray and HD DVD players are becoming available and they can output 1080i and p.
