If you have a Blu-Ray, it will play it...
Since your TV is 720P, it will display the signal in THAT RESOLUTION.....
It will look nice.

HDMI cables what style of television do you have? Is it a CRT television or liquid crystal show/plasma? whether that's a CRT, then there is not any element in gazing Blu Rays, because of the fact they are no longer HD (the TVs). Get a Plasma/liquid crystal show

Yes.
Your TV will down-convert a 1080 signals to it's internal resolution of 720.
Your TV also up-converts standard def video (480) to it's internal resolution as well.
