If I buy a CableCARD on ebay that was used on another Cable TV network from like NY can I use it on the one down here in FL Bright House? I'm guessing I would have to program it to make it work down here on my TV with a CableCARD slot. Is there a program I could use to program it if I put the CableCARD in my laptops slot.

Also is a CableCARD just a Flash card with the decryption info on it?

Thanks in advance

NO you cannot....

A cablecard is programmed for EACH provider...it tells your TV WHERE to find the channel you're looking for.

So you would need an EXACT channel to channel LINEUP and the encryption for your Cable system...

Those cards are ripoffs anyways....the channels like to lock up even on the original provider....

That's why I don't see many people using them...they just rent the cable box....

Each Cablecard needs to be associated with a device. You can't even take one from your living room STB and put it in your family room STB. A cablecard by itself is about $10. It is the monthly fee that you need to worry...
