I'm looking to upgrade my television and always like the best. What's the difference between a Plasma, LCD, and a DLP? Which is the best?

For wall hanging , LCD PANEL TVs are the overall best.

If you want to set it on top of a Table/stand then DLP is the preferred choice.

Over all winner between the TWO is LCD Panel, because it doesn't require a $250 lamp every 3-4 years....

I noticed everyone says LCD. Don't be mislead. Plasma actually has the best color rendition, but is Plasma the right choice for your viewing situation? As far as using less electricity, you will notice there is really no difference. You also need to determine if you need one that is HDTV Ready or HDTV Capable. There is a price difference and you may already have devices that perform this functionality. I would recommend you get the no-nonsense, easy to understand guide called HDTV Simplified. You can get it at http://www.HDTV-Simplified.com . It explains all these options and more. You also get a checklist to use to compare TVs while you are shopping. Did you know the electronic stores change the lighting and adjust the settings of all their TVs to get you to buy them. This guide even shows you what settings need to be changed to get the best picture.

Educate yourself before you go so you can get the HDTV of your dreams. Best of Luck! :-)

All the 3 technologies are so good - there is no clear winner based on this. They are all mature and reliable.

The 'best' would be the $6,000 Pioneer Plasma reviewed in "Home Theater" magazine. Plasma can be argued as having the best black levels and contrast ratios. (I dont have the magazine with me, but it is the December issue and should still be available). I found a link to the review below.
