I am considering buying a plasma tv (possibly a Samsung tommorow) and wanted to know if the Plasmas still have problems with burn-in? I have one LCD in the house and wanted something a little less expensive in a 50 or 60 inch for my bedroom than the LCD. How is the experience you've had with burnin and resolving it? I play PS3 alot and watch a LOT of DVD's.

This is a "Yes" and "No" answer.

Yes - there is a burn in problem with Plasmas. The "ESPN" logo is burned in on many plasmas in sports bars.

No - it is not a problem in your home if:

- You use a calibration DVD like "Avia" or "Digital Video Essentials" to turn down the brightness and contrast to normal levels. (Out of the box - televisions are often set to 100% brightness and contrast to be 'eye-catching' if the unit is used on the showroom).

- You play a modern video game for less than ... 8 hours per day.

Just mix up what you watch and dont 'marathon' play some old Pong game with just black-and-white images. Most modern video games have millions of colors that do no more damage than watching videos.

They STILL have burn in problems, even though they have added an Anti-burn washer into their menus....

IF YOU PLAY a lot of games, consider the BURN-PROOF LCD PANEL TV or the BURN-PROOF DLP projection TV.
