connecting dvd to TV using component?

I've connected my dvd to tv using the y,pb,pr component cable and I get the picture but its colors are off, the screen is pink. any ideas?

Either you have a bad cable or you misconnected the Red/Blue cables.

Reverse the red/blue in ONE side - does it fix it?
If not, reverse them on BOTH sides and see what happens

Also make sure one of the r/g/b cables on BOTH sides is not connected to the "yellow" port. These are close enough sometime to make a mistake.
