I have tried different copies of the movie, including store bought and burned copies, but it won't play the sound for this specific movie only. Any ideas why that would be?

Many manufacturers offer "HD Upconverting" DVD players which claim to play standard definition DVDs at "near HD" resolution. I'm wondering if anyone knows whether or not they really are any better than any other standard def players, and possibly how they accomplish this? I mean, you can't create resolution out of nowhere, can you?

For instance, the phase voltage in most parts of the world (U.K, Nigeria and some parts of Canada) is 240 Volts, {i.e 415 Volts line to line} at a frequency of 50 Hz as the electricity standard, whereas in the United States, the standard is 110 volts (phase voltage) at a frequency of 60 Hz.
Why is it so?

I want to buy a sewing machine from overseas Canada and although I know you can convert the current I know that this does not convert the cycles. Does this matter? Can I just use a sewing machine and let it work slower?

After making a hot soup, I transfer the hot/warm soup to a glass jar and put it in the fridge. My boyfriend says this forces the refrigerator to work over-time to cool back down to it's normal temperature, thereby using more energy.

My Mom says that a refridgerator continues working at it's normal pace no matter what amount of hot food you place in the fridge, and that it does not use any more energy as the fridge does not go in to over-drive to maintain a certain temperature. Which is true?

I went to Albuquerque this past weekend and went to every electronic store imaginable. What was weird is that they were all out-of-stock of every laptop that my wife and I wanted to purchase. I go online and the same thing...I can't purchase it and go pick it up...it must be delivered to me. Anybody know what is going on?
