Hello
I have this old Quasar microsave with absolutely no model number anywhere on it, behind it, or under it. At least 10 yrs old, maybe a bit less (I didn't buy it). Problem is that I live in this old victorian and if I have the microwave on at the same time as other appliances, I overload the electric circuit and have to go to the basement and reset the ..thingy, every single time.
Is there a way to figure out how many watts this old piece of, appliance, consumes?
I'm hopping that if, for example, it is a 1200 watts microwave, I could buy a 700 watts model and see if this would help my electric problem.
Any help, any electricians, your advise would be appreciated, thank you :)

Last night, I brought a Halogen lamp out of my bedroom and put it next to the computer because I needed to type up a draft of a handwritten essay.

For some reason, whenever I turn the lamp off/on the speakers make a "pop" sound, as if I had turned the speakers themselves off/on. The speakers are plugged into a small extension cord running out of the main computer power strip. The lamp is plugged into the main strip. The cords do not cross at any point, the lamp is about 2-3 feet away from the speakers.

What is the "pop" noise from the speakers coming from? is it bad? is it good?

several items of late with out 'polarized' plugs. I think they have something to do with safety & grounding--anyhow, my cell-phone recharger and a personal DVD player both have 'normal' plugs. When are (if they are regulated) polarized plugs required/called for?

I have heard that the regular (non-electronic) fan-speed regulators commonly used in homes just get heated up and do not save electricity. Thus, even if you run the fan on lowest speed, the electricity used is the same as when running it at top speed.
