I recently got the phone service Vonage and I use to have Qwest and when someone ever called me they would HAVE to unblock theyre number(if it was blocked) or hang up but now with Vonage they dont have that service so when someone calls from a blocked number nothing shows on my caller ID screen so I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a device that I could maybe hook up or something that gives me that service back because I dont like it when people call from unidentified numbers. Please help.

I have Optimum triple play line (phone, internet, tv cable) but when i call some service centers or college, it asks me whether i have touch tone phone and to press one. I know this might sound really silly but I really need to know now. Am I using a touch tone phone? How do i know?

i did a reverse phone # search on www.whitepages.com to find out who called me, b/c when i called there was no answer, and it's a local number....
the number came back private on the search and i was wondering if there were any sites out there that you can get around that "private" featue.

When I call someone through phone, I speak the voice is changed into electrical signals, How?

The person at receiving end listens the exact words, even though during transmission it was just like electrical signal through conductor.

How it extracts the wordings from the electrical signals, If I connect it with any other electrical signal (such as wiring ) will it do the same?

the original phone number is 616-335........and calling 616-396......
the phone companies say it isn't them--any suggestions to try to figure out why this call can't be made. These are both land phones and 3 miles apart.

I can see that they offer a free service to go back to them (eg. if there has been a bt line in your house and an engineering doesn't have to come) or charge £124.99 if its a new line but what do they actually charge you if you charge to them from a line that cable put in??

Most people go wireless nowaday. I also don't use my landline phone (~$35/month), except to get faxes and ADT security monitoring service.

What is other alternatives?
