Is there a way of turning it off?...preferably without talking to someone..

u will need to call bt 0800 800 829 open mon-sat 7.30 am till 10pm gets u straight through no need to press options

You have to call BT and they will de-activate it. I know it can be very annoyong.

Phone 150 to do it. if you've registered your BT account online you may be able to it there.
