Is this Combination excellent? Are they miss-match proof?!
Do you know a better combination not more than $800?
I don't care about features. Sound quality is all that matter for me.

I just got a yamaha powered center speaker. It has an RCA (one) input on the back (along with a power cord), but nothing else. How would I go about hooking it up to my amp that has a positive/negative two-wire connection for the center speaker?

Am I supposed to see a difference in the quality of the film I am watching. i mean is the DVD player supposed to increase the quality simply by using the HD output to the TV? I know a regular DVD player will NOT play a HD dvd, but I am thinking what is the point of even having HD output if there is no difference in the quality of the movie?

If bought a Harman Kardon 6.1 surround system and I got wiring through the walls but the wires run in the same pipe as the A/C wires, I've read many articles, ones say there shouldn't be any problem as the speaker cables carry strong signals a thus are not affected by the interference from A/C wire but others say they are affected and in order to avoid interference they must be placed at least 16 inches from each other. I'm really confused, I would like to know what can I do, is there going to be any problem, should I run new ducts through the wall or can it be fixed just with switching to shielded wire??

Thanks in advance.

I've just got a new sound card and the only way it will output true 5.1 surround sound is through the 3 x 3.5mm stereo jack plugs directly to a set of surround sound speakers.

It has a set of optical toslink sockets on the rear but you have to disable the 5.1 setting and run only 2 channel stereo to get them to work and i've been told that the reason for this is to protect copyrights ? Why? All i want to do is connect my PC to a surround sound amplifier so that i can play pc games that i brought in true surround sound, i've no intention of copying anything.

I thought i'd need some kind of Analogue to digital convertor?

My sound card is a Trust SC-5250 and my digital amp is a Sony Sav-S800.

It works at the moment but only in stereo although the optical toslink cable has bad the sound much cripser and a lot louder, well worth it.

I've got at least 200 video tapes and someone told me there's a machine that can copy the info to disc. I'm not looking for a picture any clearer than the tape, but I'm moving toward using a DVD player more than a VCR. Do you know what it's called and about how much I should expect to pay?

Two speaker wires got crossed and two small puffs of smoke came out accompanied with a poof! The receiver is an Onkyo HTR-500 and is a decent receiver but maybe not audiophile quality. Should I pay someone to have this repaired or trash it?. What could have blown? What would a rough estimate be , on repairs? Anything you can tell me will be helpful. Feel free to contact me outside of this forum at jjck2727@yahoo.com to discuss further. Thanks for the help........John

All the high end AV equipment out there (Sony, Denon, Marantz, etc.) are made in China, Malaysia, and the Phillipines with cheap, inferior parts that will break in 2-5 years. I was hoping there is a solidly built AV Surround receiver out there that is still made in Japan with solid, quality parts and electronics.

THX sound is optional, HDMI optional. Model numbers would be great. I just want a true Japanese-built surround receiver that's built like a tank.

Hi, I am currently a Dishnetwork subscriber. I do not have a phone line at my house so Dishnetwork is charging me $5 a month for not having that phone line hooked up. I do not have a home phone at all, all I have is a cell phone. They call it a programming fee. I think it is stupid and I am ready disconnect it.

Ok, i was having fun, and listening to music. Maybe a little loud, but I do it often, and am usually careful not to go past 90% of my speakers capabilities. I judge it based on woofer movement. And I think i blew my main right channels woofer. Cuz i was listening to a song, and saw it move at a ultra-low freq. for a sec, and instantly turned it down.

I noticed the same reaction my head-phones got, when i they blew. So i have turned it off, and its been bout 5 min. since i did that. And im worried i damaged it cuz im only 16, and dont have a job to replace them right now. I just love my speakers and dont want to have to replace it.

Im going to let it rest, and then try to see how it is in a little bit, but any adivce?
