Yes the prisoners get a portable television, this is nothing special just a 14" colour television. There is not sky/freeview installed in prisons, the televisions just run terrestrial television. This is something that they have to rent from the prison though, this is done using their allowance which is earnt doing jobs for the prison.
As for DVD players, no i don't believe they get these, I'm sure they don't get given porn either. This usually comes in the format of magazines and newspapers.

It depends on what you have done and where you go, in the prisons there are different levels if you are a good boy you can have a tv if you are a nughty boy you get put in just a cell with a toilet and a a bed.
but if you are in there for a long period of time then peple that visit you can bring you money in and there is a bloke that comes round and you can purchase things like PlayStation's, free-view,etc but they have to buy them out of the money people bring in.

The prisoners in UK jails get certain privileges according to which prison they are in and what wing they are in, but yes they do have access to TV, DVD Videos and Stereos.

about to get banged up are we? under new government guideline each convicted prisoner gets a 42" plasma screen, with full access to sky and freeview. the latest digital video recorders mean no one misses anything...
they get BUPA healthcare and can dial a whore day or night...they stopped to cokeOgrammes... and gordon forking ramsay is teaching them how to cook...
yes they have TV, its a 12inch portable..with 5 channels.... and they can have a dump, whilst eating their tea watching eastenders...

They get normal tvs, but it depends how long your in for.
Because you can get dvds, playstations etc

I read somewhere that prisons have plasma televisions installed for the inmates. (Hard old life, ain't it?)
