All the high end AV equipment out there (Sony, Denon, Marantz, etc.) are made in China, Malaysia, and the Phillipines with cheap, inferior parts that will break in 2-5 years. I was hoping there is a solidly built AV Surround receiver out there that is still made in Japan with solid, quality parts and electronics.

THX sound is optional, HDMI optional. Model numbers would be great. I just want a true Japanese-built surround receiver that's built like a tank.

A book that's "good" enough to be made into a movie is popular and well-known. I don't think they would make a movie on a book that isn't New York Times Bestseller. They could be classics like Jane Eyre or just fads like Twilight. Either way, they very rarely make good adaptations of the novels. When you write a novel, it's written in blood, sweat and tears. With writing you create, with filming you're just changing the story to a different media. I'm sure it's hard work, but it's just not the same as writing a novel. Then again it's all pretty subjective. I mean, Pan's Labyrinth was awesome and that has blood, sweat and tears written all over it.

try Nakamichi, Onkyo, Yamaha, all their higher end stuff is made in Japan But no receiver will ever be as good as a component system with a pre amp and individual amps to power the system. you cant run exotic THX speakers off a receiver because most just handle 6 ohms minimum but out of the 3 best bet would be the Yamaha next Onkyo

Go for Onkyo. It manufactures really a trouble free home theatre system. The speakers are, however, manufactured in Malaysia.I use the system of Onkyo for past 7 years with utmost satisfaction.

It's really true. Of course you have to pay for it, but some things are worth it.

Well, I believe Onkyo is, and it's a very high-quality brand.
