Consumer Electronics - 19 June 2007

Okay, had to replace Xbox 360 because it died, but kept old hard drive. Pre-swap, I had bought all arcade games on my account, but my GF could play them on her profile with no worries. Now, however, there seems to be a problem and she can't. Microsoft have yet to give me an answer, the person on the phone being most unhelpful.

Can anyone else help? Is there a way to get the games working on her account again without the need to re-purchase?

ok i have this MP3 player (not sure which model off the top of my head) and lik last year or 2 years ago, my little bro pluged it into these big speakers and the MP3 player got fryed. Even today if u smell it, u can still smell the burnt smell. Is there anything i can to to return it and maybe get another one orstore credit somewhere? if so where?

caz i know how if ur ipod is broken u can sometimes bring it back to the Apple stores and they'll give u another one.

I've tried to buy Canon products from Photonation, Broadway photo, and Bestpricecameras.com. These companies advertise low prices then after you place the order they send you an order confirmation asking you to call them to "verify" your order. They then proceed to sell you warranties or sell you accessories that you don't want or need. Their final ploy is to tell you that the product you are buying is not a US model and that it is cheap because it is a foreign model with no warranty. Despite the information at their site saying they ship in 1 to 3 days they then tell you that the product will be shipped in 4 to 6 weeks!
Photonattion told me that a camera I ordered has a magnesium body instead of whwtever Canon normally uses. My take is Canon does not make inferior products to sell overseas. If the product is inferior it has to be illegal and these companies should be prosecuted for selling bogus products.
Bestpricecameras told me a lens I was ordering used plastic instead of glass

Our Sky Digital went down yesterday, it just says "no signal received". We have tried turning it off for 10mins and then turning it back on (which has worked in the past) but this makes no difference. On a signal test it shows no signal at all. Everything is plugged in properly, the dish hasn't been moved and our neighbours are not having any problems at all - anyone got an answer???

the Samsung SCH-u540 or the Motorola RAZR V3m?

for the samsung i would get it in blue, and teh RAZR in pink. my cell phone i currently have is almost 2 years old, it takes forever to connect to calls, sometimes it calls, but i cant hear a ring and if someone talks, i dont hear it, sometimes it randomly shuts off, and it usually takes about 15 seconds to send a txt message.

so which one is better? they both have the same features. i DO NOT want that LG gray phone that a lot of people have. my sister has it and personally i hate them. i would like the buttons on my phone to be quite quiet and i want a phone that has the fron display for like pictures and stuff. if you have a recommendation other than those ones, please tell me. i am paying fo the phone myself though, so please dont make it cost a lot.

My original remote got smashed and i need to use the av function so i can get the xbox working. The tv will not let me use the av function without the proper remote. I have tried the universal ones but the only do sound and channels any ideas. the model no is PTV7017. Does anyone have this tv and can actually get AV without a remote if so can you tell me how!!!!!!!!! thanks

I accidentally inserted my GSM Sim in a locked Nokia 6030 RM 225. When I put it back to my unlocked Sony Ericsson, the T-mobile network I am usually using is now telling me "forbidden network" same as cingular. I don't understand why it appeared now while I am using it for two months?

Do I have to go to T-mobile service or call the SIM's roaming hotline? Do I need to unlock the phone with my SIM?

Note: The Phone Nokia 6030 is locked in T-Mobile. My SIM is Globe Prepaid Sim that was roamed.

Please help me. I need to have my connections back as soon as possible.

I have an older 26 ' HDTV and its a samsung. I have started to get purple fuzz on the screen. it looks almost like interference but occuring on parts of the screen. I assume it could be screen burn. If so the lcd screen is damaged. What other problems could it be. If so how much could it cost for the repair including labour?

My house will soon be extended. It will be a detatched part of the house with no neighbours adjoining. I want to put some sub woofery under the new flooring so that when i have a house party i can hook up those speakers.

I know alot (or all) of the mid & high range sound will be lost but i just want sound that you can feel. What kind of wattage or type of speaker would do the job??

So, I am planning to burn a classic and hard-to-find Hindi movie for myself. I need to burn it onto media that will be readable in a regular DVD player in India. Any hints on what kind of media I should buy? FYI: Hindi movies typically take up about 6.5 G - they are long.
