Okay, had to replace Xbox 360 because it died, but kept old hard drive. Pre-swap, I had bought all arcade games on my account, but my GF could play them on her profile with no worries. Now, however, there seems to be a problem and she can't. Microsoft have yet to give me an answer, the person on the phone being most unhelpful.

Can anyone else help? Is there a way to get the games working on her account again without the need to re-purchase?

JuneMas: I've tried redownloading them, that doesn't work. Maybe if I download something new it might -- as you say, it may be tied to the serial number. Thanks for that piece of info, may help.

When you download games they are tied to not just the hard drive but the original console's serial number, there is only one way to play the full game and that is to be online with the gamertag that you purchased the games, if you aren't online then you only get to play it as a trial version. It kinda sucks but for most 360 owners they're 360 is signed on to live when ever the console is powered on like mine.

My first 360 broke, my fault it fell, no red lights, purchased the Elite, redownloaded the games and I have the full version as long as I'm signed onto live.

As I understand it, arcade games are tracked with your account/gamer tag. Try logging in with your account and re-downloading them. After that she should be able to access them from her profile as long as she is playing on your machine.
