I tried looking in the directions and they didnt say anything about LightScribe other than mentioning it was optional.

Lightscribe allows you to print a label directly on the CD or DVD using your drive. (no paper is needed)
You will need especially marked Lightscribe discs.
After you finish creating your disc, you flip it upside down, put it in the drive, and use the Lightscribe label software to print your label.
Go to hp.com and they have a nice tutorial.
