Consumer Electronics - 16 September 2006

I have a comcast turner, a samsung tv. Previously the setting for the ypbpr was set so that the picture was too wide (although still crisper than regular tv). Now it is set so that hdtv channels (espn, abc, nbc, etc.) are fitted onto the screen in the wide screen format (much easier to see the score of games etc now). Problem is though that when I go to watch movies in HDTV onDemand that some of the movies are still too wide. Is this a setting I can fix or is it just that the movie is formated in the size that cannto be properly shown on my tv? (Sorry if my technical language is lacking)

today I renter burnout revenge for the xbox 360 to see if it was any good, and when I got home and put it in my 360 a white screen kept coming up saying put this disk in an axbox 360 console, so I took it out and it looked spotless of scratches and smudges but I cleaned it anyways, and yes I am just going to get another copy tomorrow but if anyone has any suggestions right now they would be appreciated, and also when I go to the dashboard with disk still in the console it says "play dvd" not play game which I found very odd.

Hi Everyone,
I have a number of passive A/V switch boxes I use to route audio/video signals from my various DVRs, DVDs, VCRs, etc, to TVs around the house.

The problem with these switch boxes is that they tend to get pulled off the backs of their shelves by the attached cables. Even if I use strain releases on the shelves, the switches still bob around a lot because they're so much lighter than the cables. More info:

1. They're sealed units. I can't get them apart to drill through the bottoms into the shelves.

2. I tried strong two-sided tape but it gives way after only a day or two.

3. I don't think Hot Glue will work very well on the smooth wood surfaces of the shelves.

4. Magnets probably aren't a good idea (g).

So, does anyone have any advice on how to attach the switch boxes firmly to the shelves of the entertainment centers?

I'm buying a camera for the first time. I'm not sure which camera suits my criteria. I want a digital camera that
- gives a higher quality of image (as I always use for image editing very frequently)
- have at least 4x optical zoom
- are less bulky and
- have more storage limit (as I take pictures very frequently).

My bf loves to play his Xbox. He doesn't have the XBox 360, he has the first one. Anyway, I am looking to buy him a new controller as a gift and he said he would like one with a turbo button. I looked on line and found an "Intec Wireless Live Controller". I haven't bought anything yet and I would like to know if anyone can help me with suggestions? Hi,
I'm going to be visiting Malaysia & Singapore soon and wanted to know the street prices of Digital cameras - Nikon Coolpix L1, L2, Canon Powershot A700 or anything similar as available in Malaysia and Singapore.
Would the warranty be applicable in any other countries if I buy there?

The new Ipods are out. They are almost completely the best out there now. They are cheaper, scratch resistant now (except the Videos, I think) smaller (not the Videos, I think) better in all parts, except that the screen is still pretty small, smaller than a half of the Ipod itself. I'm thinking about buying one. Wat's your ideas? Those of you who have Ipod Video, how annoying does its size to you? Those of you who have Ipod Nano, how small is the screen to you? Should I buy an Ipod? Which one?

i've looked around the apple discussions board, but found nothing. I just changed my iPod format from windows to Mac, with no problems and downloaded iTunes 7. Now my iPod doesn't show up as a removable device on my desktop, although it shows up in iTunes. Also, when I tried to set the iPod to manually update songs, it says that my preferences could not be saved, because the device could not be found, but the iPod is clearly connected to iTunes. I'm assuming it is directly related to the fact that it's not showing up on the desktop. Any help would be much appreciated.
