I got windows XP about 2 years ago. i put it on a computer that i havent used in a year. i connected my computer to the internet to pay my bills. ( it is the only computer i can pay bills on) When i booted up the computer and loged on. wndows said that there was an update aviable for my computer. ( the update was service pack 2) so i figered it would be better. so i go ahead and let it download and install service pack 2. i rebooted it and now it says to me "you have 30 days to activate windows" so i do and i used the over the internet activation and over the phone activation. the person on the phone said that my windows CD key dont match any of there keys. and so they said we cant activate windows for me. so please help me! how can i get windows activate as i need to be able to pay my bills. i bought my version of XP at bestbuy and i thought i would never have this problem. please help me on how i can activate windows in any way. thanks so much! and thanks to any one who answers me!

I just had it fixed by HP as the DVD and Cd drives weren't reading any disks. I tried the autorun business it didn't work. How do I make my computer read the disk?

I downloaded a free trial version of Norton off of yahoo . . after the 30 days I decided that I din't care to much for it and went out and bought the 2007 version of McAfee PA Protection Plus. I went to the and and delete on my control panel and tried to remove the Norton and not all of it removed. I tried a few other things but finally had to go to my system restore and actually go to the date BEFORE I installed the free version of Norton to remove this from my computer. Onve removed I installed the McAfee and after I rebooted my system nothing works anymore. I can not get on the internet (Using my G/F now) tried to remove the McAfee and can't remove that (all that comes up is a blank box) and when I tried to go to system restore thru safe mode all that comes up there is a blank white box! no calender, no writing . . nothing. I called my ISP and they walked me thru a # of things but they are at a loss to understand why its not working as it is getting a ping . . any suggestions?

frist of all i never disabled it and i am the admin of my computer. i installed windwos xp home editon and then i installed service pack 2 now im trying to do command prompt and it says it has been disabled by the admin. i never disabled it. so how do i enable it?

I purchased a new pc not that long ago with the OEM version of Windows Xp. It included a free upgrade to Windows Vista before march 1st. But when I go to the MS site, I don't see where I can upgrade my OS.

And if I do upgrade it, which version of Vista will I get? Because I don't want the stripped version, if that's the case, I'd rather stick with Xp.

from everything ive researched i should be constantly harrassed by a pop up telling me to buy the key verifying the pirated copy. but i havent had that problem. like a mormon my roomate looged on to windows site to update his pirated copy of win. xp pro. of course it didnt work. i restored the system to a date prior, worked somewhat but i still get slowed down to the point im waiting 5 min per click. i then restore back a week or so and im more or less okay. except when i go on to link clicks even w/ my email i hear a beep and my explorer box pops up telling me there was an error.and i have to open explorer and start all over. when i check it to see what it is then i see its something from windows. i think they took my com. over. what if i denied windows any access, and how would i go about that. ? im in the process of studying linux and should be ready to install in a week or so. i live in mexico on $ 100 a week i cant afford to buy bill gates dinner at the carlton.

I've seen some files that contain round 2GB of data into 1.42MB (.RAR) file, so plz don't say that it's not possible. Just share the knowledge. Because i've large amount of data on my hard disk, if i manage 2 do so, i'll b happy.

I am running the most current version of OSX (Tiger?). I played "Baldur's Gate" a couple of years ago, and, while there were some issues, saving wasn't one of them. I'm guessing this has something to do with Tiger. I love Baldur's Gate and really want to play it again? Is there anything I can do other than get an old Mac and use it as a dedicated "Baldur's Gate" computer?
