IT WILL LOG OFF WINDOWS, AND THEN WILL FREEZE ON "SAVING YOUR SETTINGS" HAVE LET IS SIT FOR OVER 1/2 HOUR AND NOTHING....I HAVE TO MANUALLY TURN OFF COMPUTER.....

an error "Unable to retrieve software information" is displayed in fedora core5 when i tried to install any new software downloaded from internet.I have tried many solutions no use and i have reinstalled fedora5 many times no use of it.what can i do for this plz suggest a good solution iam using dual os winxp+fedora5 and my processor is Intel 915 chipset processor 3.0 ghz ok iam waiting for hopefull answer!!

My girlfriend got a Mac and wants to send out her resume with it, but when someone with a PC tries to open the file attachment, they get asked to choose a program to open it with. She uses Microsoft Word for Mac. How can we get PC's to recognize the file as a word doc?

or is the pre-loaded antivirus program that your computer came with when you bought it enough? I run Windows XP home edition on an HP Pavilion 1010y (Pentium 4/ 3.06 ghz; 512mb ram). Also, what is the "catch" with free antivirus programs, and where do I find them?

I dont know exactly how to explain this. I have no idea what I've done to cause it.... but when I use my space bar in the middle of typing, like to make a correction or add another word into the middle of a sentence it erases other letters and words. Does anyone know how to fix this? Man it's annoying! It's like as I type something in the words in front of what i'm typing are being erased at the same time???

I have already disabled Safari, Dashboard, and other such applications, but users have found various clever ways of getting around such obstacles. One user was able to start up the music notation porgram Finale, choose "About Finale" from the "Finale" menu, and click on the link to the company's website from there. How does one prevent this from happening?

i have a game, specifically EA Sports Nascar 2000 that was published in the year 2000. It says it is compatible with Windows 95 and Windows 98, but specifically says "Windows 2000 and Windows NT are not supported." I thought Windows was supposed to be downward compatible?!

Can someone who knows more about operating systems than I do tell me if this game will be compatible with Windows XP, SP 2? And why wouldn't it be compatible with Win 2000 and Win NT?

I checked their website (easports.com) but it doesn't even mention this game anymore.

Anyone who could help me understand this all, I'd sure appreciate it!

After I downloaded Kodak Easyshare software it automatically downloaded Bonjour. I'm not sure what it is but it's making my computer take a long time to upload and a pop up states that my firewall is turned off even after I checked that my firewall is on. Can anybody tell me why this is happening?

some clever cloggs obviously connected all the files so they played as one .mp3 tune (it looked like just 1 large mp3 file but it was the whole album) i've did this years ago myself wth 2 files using a batch file (.bet)

how can i redo this for myself? I have a playlist I want 2 connect like this & it'd b nice 2 do that with a few cartoons or breakdance videos too...

please help!!

ive since then renamed that file by removing the "@" and the "." so it's now just a simple string of characters. Unfortunately, there is still a problem. The file is still just a file instead of an actual folder. I need to be able to access the contents of the folder to restore my Outlook Express. Im thinking the best way to go about this is to rename the file in MSDos? But that's just a guess, any professional help would be much appreciated.

My computer at work had all these fun and cool looking themes for xp so i did a system search for the .theme files and found that they were in C:>>Windows>>Resources>>Themes, I then copied the whole "Resources" folder onto my laptop. Replacing it's old "Resources" folder. During the copying I got an alert that it couldn't copy one particular styleshell.dll file or user icon because it was already in use. I thought nothing of it and continued the transfer. When completed I tried to restart my machine and loa my themes... the themes I already had work but all the new ones do not. I have all the wallpapers and icons that go with tthe themes but the windows and start bar do not change. If anything they revert to the oldschool windows look. I've been messing with this for a while now and I'm stumped. If someone could please tell me what I've done wrong and how to correctly do this... I'd be greatful. It's not even a big deal but now it's just bugging me.

Dear Sir/madam

In safe mode, pressed F8, selected nomal mode rebooted and still in safe mode.

Safe mode in four corners of screen, can't select scan disk as Im in safe mode.

Attempted to installed O/P system to start again, however this also failed. Wouldn't installed the O/S? How do I get the PC back to normal function?

Any advice/information on the above, much appreciated
