Dear Sir/madam
In safe mode, pressed F8, selected nomal mode rebooted and still in safe mode.
Safe mode in four corners of screen, can't select scan disk as Im in safe mode.
Attempted to installed O/P system to start again, however this also failed. Wouldn't installed the O/S? How do I get the PC back to normal function?
Any advice/information on the above, much appreciated
Regards
Chris

i reckon the reason your o/s isnt installing is you need to go into setup(press delete at start) and go into advanced bios settings, and set first boot device to cd/dvd rom then save and exit set up(remember to insert your xp disc before you save and exit)
with regards to the safe mode error ,before you go to the desk top in safe mode..there is a option to do a system restore instead of safe mode....use this and revert back to a few days back.......job done
when desktop back to normal go to my computer>local disk>right click>properties>tools>error check>(tick fix errors) and apply>restart computer......p.c will start up and will do scandisk(error check).will reboot again after check
hope this helps
good luck

When you press f8,did you try, last known good configuration,if not try that, if that does not work, let it boot to safe mode, and do a system restore, click >start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore, pick a date when you think the pc was booting ok.

you do not desire THE CD!!!! initiate the computing gadget at a similar time as keeping F8 key. Then choose risk-free mode with command instantaneous. whilst the command instantaneous comes up, form in internet consumer some text cloth ought to arise and help you comprehend the call of the bills on your computing gadget. after that, form in: internet consumer (even though your username is)* so if my call grew to become into bob, then it could be like this: internet consumer bob * then it would say: New Password form in a clean password, not something will seem once you form it so don't be alarmed. then press enter, your password has been reset

why were you in safe mode in the first place?
if the suggestions above don't work.
Restart and press delete so you can check the boot order.
change the boot order so it checks where your OS disc is first
eg cdrom
you should be able to reinstall then, BUT any files or documents you have saved will be LOST
Best of luck

While in safe mode click start/run and type msconfig into the run box and press the enter key. When the window appears click on the boot.ini tab and make sure the safeboot box is unchecked. Click apply/ok and restart your computer.
