Software - July 2006

I'm using Audacity to make audio recordings, but when I put "export as mp3" I asks me to find LAME, I already installed LAME 3.96 but it's an installer and it doesn't work.
I'm using the mac os x version
please help me, this is very important, points involved.

I have windows xp on my home pc. I got a laptop off of ebay with windows 2000 on it and want to upgrade to xp. Am I able to do it without a disc? can I send the xp file somehow?I lost my installation disk from when I upgraded on my pc. I dont want to spend $100 + if I don't have to.

Every where is much cheaper than the uk ,playstation and xbox 360 games from £39.99 -£50 for a new game.
Cd's £15 even itunes is more expensive but why.

Will I be able to communicate with others users who are using MSN Messenger..., play all kind of movies (not just .mov), bittorrent clients, using vnc (or remote desktop or PCAnywhere to control other windows computers). other abilities or restrictions?

I have the sonic program that's suppose to burn CD's, and DVD'S. I tried everything I could think of and I still come up empty. Could the reason be I have DVD-RW Disc

I download A LOT of anime episodes and they are really taking up space on my computer since most of them are in avi. format. I want to put them (the episodes) on a DVD but I don't know if my computer can do that. I can burn Audio and Data CD's but I have no clue about DVD's. I tried to put the episodes on this blank DVD but it didn't work, I found out that my computer doesn't burn with DVD-R so it has to be positive R or W I think it was. So yeah the top drive says "DVD ROM" and the 2nd one says "Compact Disc ReWritable." I haven't bought the correct blank DVD's yet but I want to make sure I can burn DVD's. Anyone know?

My word program is original and I have uninstalled and reinstalled severeal times in order to fix this problem, but its keeping coming up.Someone suggested me to keep the Office program runing on the startup in order to fix this problem but this isn't working too.
How can I fix this problem?

ok,how do i say this without confusing people. my computer screen keeps stretching out by itself! my shortcuts keep dissapearing from my pc. i have a black line on the left side of the computer hugging up my start button. my internet webpage is stretched too wear its missing the upper left hand e sign and the exit sign on the otherside there is something wrong please help me? its basically inflating on its own.

I have an XP Home on my CPU, I have a reinstall XP Pro disc, can i simply go into the bios, boot from CD, reinstall with the product key code and basically write-over XP Home and still have all my Program Files, data, etc?
