U cant compare them like this cuz Xp is totally fotr normal people who uses the Computer for entertainment and propfessional work and its very easy for anybody learn pretty quickly cuz of its Extremly Easy User Interface. But on the other side Linux is the most powerful OS for a PC. Linux is mainly used for server cuz of its super security and open source programing, but nowadys lots of PC is powered by linux. Before some time linux was only a command line OS but GNOME and KDE has done some wonderful job of creating a Graphical Interface for linux, which takes linux one step further to be a the common peoples OS.

I have no experience with Linux, and haven't heard of that type on Linux, but it all depends on your purpose. Linux should be more stable and secure, but it also isn't capable of running some software that can only run on Windows, and you may have some other compatibility issues. The best and worse thing about Windows is that it is what everyone uses. It is compatible with just about everyone, since most people use it, but as the most popular OS, it gets attacked the most by viruses and other malware.

It depends on what your using your computer for? That's like asking what's a better car: Covette or Jeep?
You see, Linux is more of a power user OS right now. You need to know how to partition your HD and a little bit of Unix scripting helps too. While Windows has been fully "domesticated" and you have to be really thick not to be able to install it.
Also, Its close to impossible to find the latest games on Linux. Just face it, Micro$oft has taken over the world and the hardware, software and middleware industries are catering to them.
