You can do it... by opening the file with Paint and in the File menu select Save As - and select the extension .jpg or .jpeg - as you wish, and then click save.

I usually simply open the bmp file then click on the following:-
File
Save As
"give the file a new name"
In the file type criteria box, choose jpeg.
That usually works for me.

Well if you have the file extensions visible, simply rename the file.
Mypicture.bmp to Mypicture.jpeg
Job done!
Or not to enable view of file extensions. In windows explorer use:
Tools, Folder Options, View tab.
disable the Hide Know File Type check box.
Apply and Close
This may look more confusing on your files but now you can tell what they all are.

u can do it with any photo editing software
like pain shop , adobe photoshop or ...
but u can open your Paint from start>all programs>accessories>paint
then open your BMP file then from file menu select save as
and change the file type to jpg and save it
easy ha?
