I have a Dell desktop. It starts up very quiet and fast. It gets louder and slower as time passes and I use it. Sometimes with just internet explorer open, it has 100% CPU usage as quoted by the task manager.

So I started with running a defrag and disk cleaner. Nothing changed.

Then I uninstalled programs I never used, to free up space. I have about 60% free space now. Nothing changed.

I ran msconfig and edited it to not start up useless programs, and not to run useless services. Little changed, but it took longer to show problems.

I ran a program to free up RAM. It made my fan louder and computer slower when I ran it.

I have checked for spyware with 2 different utilities and visuses with a another different 2 utilities. Nothing changed!!!

Any other ideas? It doesn't start this way, any ideas?

what happened,can burners wear out?

it still plays & rips cd's but when you click the 'burn to cd' tab it doesnt read the disc,just says insert disc with avail storage??

so whats the deal?

I like to chat always at yahoo massenger. But from some day some of yahoo member are disturbing me to much...
When he came to chat..... to much new chat window starts opening with till my Computer will not hange....

Hi,
I need help removing some data from my computer. If you go to
Start>Run a small box would open up. Well I opened up this file from their that is not so pleasant. It was a adult file. Well this is a family computer so I dont want anyone else to see it. Someone please tell me how to erase it off or somthin.

i downloaded many codecs, but the videos i tried to play on thnose codecs dont work (it gives sounds but does not let me see anything)

i work with two computers - an old pc and a new mac. i have microsoft word on both. they are not networked together so i have to email files back and forth. somewhere in cyberspace, the barcode numbers within the word documents don't turn out correctly. all other formatting and fonts transfer perfectly, so why don't the barcodes look right? any ideas on how i can fix them?

I have a Dell Dimension that used to be lightening fast but over the past year has slowed dramatically. I have Norton 2006 installed as well as Stopzilla for blocking pop-ups. Do these programs conflict? I have gone through and deleted all unnecessary programs and have plenty of hard disk space but am still dealing with slow response time especially when opening and closing programs and utilities.
