If i defragmented c drive have I cleaned out my recycle bin???

why does the # 6 show up at the top of my screen if i go to (webdate) a live cam/mic chat dating site, my font changes to strange and dark and 6 appears and i cant type or scroll and it freezes then i can only control/alt/delete/ end task????

I am planning on completely wiping out my hard drive with a restore disk and placing all of my important files onto another hard drive. How do I restore all of my iTunes media so that I don't lose anything? Also, how do I restore all of my links in my favorites list on internet explorer?

I have over 1GB of RAM, and I run WinXP. I rarely run more than 2 or 3 programs at a time, I defrag regularly, and I take good care of my machine. So why do my iTunes skip and my programs lag? Any advice?

Whenever I run the peer to peer file sharing program uTorrent, it cuts off my Internet Explorer access. The d/l and u/l speeds are fine, but also the torrent trackers go into error mode and fail to update. The downloads and uploads continue on OK. Does anyone know of a program setting that I need to modify so that this doesn't happen? Thanks

hi all, my laptop died and (i think i fried the motherboard) and i desperately need to rescue some docs from my hard drive. i bought a cheap external hard drive case and installed my laptop hdd so i can hook it up to a friend's computer and hopefully save my docs.

i can open up my hard drive and have access to certain parts, like the program files, etc... but what i need are docs that i kept in "My Documents" folder and on my desktop. The only way (i think) i can get access to them is through f:\documents and settings\administrator folder. however, when i try to open the administrator folder, an error message pops up with: "f:\documents and settings\administrator is not accessible. Access is denied." i had password on my welcome screen for window xp does that matter?

what sucks is that i can access f:\documents and settings\guest and see guest docs, but that's not what i need. Can u help?

I've tried changing the read-only setting & sharing the folder, but no success. thanks

I've been told that this can be done, but I'd like to figure out how, so that I can put it into iTunes and watch movies that way...Or, is there another way I can download movies to put on my iPod? Limewire, youtube, etc?

I see a lot of people here asking questions that others find "just so basic". Things like "myspace codes" that show that te person has not been taught that what they really eed is a small introduction to HTML and how to use it on myspace.

How many here would like a "help" site where they can find answers to very common questions like that?

Feel free to send me a message. If this is something that has enough interest, I'll add a subdomain to my site just for it. Perhaps a forums type of thing.

Sometimes (not always) I click on a hyperlink and all that appears in the address box is a blank. If I then click STOP, the address suddenly appears in the box and NO PAGE TO DISPLAY comes up at the top. But then if I click GO, it works. This just started to happen recently.

We have Windows XP, and on the bottom left you have the "Start" menu to click on , and on the right side, there's the clock with a ton of application icons to the left of that...How do I edit which icons I want shown? When I turned on my computer last week it booted up as far as showing my usual background picture but the usual rows of icons did not appear on the left side of the screen. No amount of manipulations and clicking caused any change. I had to turn the machine off and back on to get it to boot up in the usual way. Also, three times since then when I tried to get on the internet "your attempt failed". What caused these things and what can I do about it?

I'm running a Windows Xp Service package 2. I'm trying to port forward and I need the information that ipconfig gives you. Everytime i enter i get this
"C:\Documents and Settings\Owner>ipconfig
'ipconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

I'm not tooo computer smart to please keep the computer lingo down to earth.

Is there something I can do to fix that, or is there an alternative?

how long can i leave my computer just like that without clearing off internet history, cookies, and temp. files, etc...basically, i wanted to know how often do we have to do so, and how long can we be carefree with our computer.
