ipconfig will not work in my command prompt?

Question

I'm running a Windows Xp Service package 2. I'm trying to port forward and I need the information that ipconfig gives you. Everytime i enter i get this
"C:\Documents and Settings\Owner>ipconfig
'ipconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

I'm not tooo computer smart to please keep the computer lingo down to earth.

Is there something I can do to fix that, or is there an alternative?

Look in yr Windows/System32 folder. Is there an ipconfig application file there? I suspect it will still be there. If you open yr cmd DOS box and type 'path', is the C:\Windows\system32 path in there? if not then the way to fix it is to right click on My Computer and select 'properties' then 'advanced', 'environmental variables' and look down to System variables. To the right of 'path' you will see a string of locations which will be appended into yr working environment. Highlight 'path' and edit. Click on the 'variable value' and use the arrow keys to go the the start of the string. Now type in '%SystemRoot%\system32;' (without the quotes) and hit OK. You will now be able to access ipconfig from yr Documents and Settings folder in DOS.

first... what information do you need from IPconfig?? all the information that you will find on there can be found through windows itself. to find the information, you need to double click on your network computer icon at the bottom right corner next to the clock.... next click on the support tab. that shows all the same information that you will find using the IPconfig through CMD

try typing "ipconfig /all" (with the space) if that doesn't work then you'll need to double check you spelling or something is wrong with the programming
