We have Windows XP, and on the bottom left you have the "Start" menu to click on , and on the right side, there's the clock with a ton of application icons to the left of that...How do I edit which icons I want shown? Thanks if you can help, ask for more info if you're no sure what I'm talking about, but I hope you understand!

go to the task bar, right click and select properties. Go to customize down at the bottom and click that. select from the list of icons to either hide, show, or show/hide as you wish.

That whole group is part of the window taskbar...if using the windows default colors there should be a bar along the bottom of the screen...that is the taskbar...if you RIGHT click on it you will get a menu...click on the "properties" line at the bottom of the menu...you will get the toolbar and taskbar window. From there you can customize your start menu etc. For what you want to do...go to the bottom of that menu...click on "customize"...the next screen you get will allow you to do one of three things for each of those icons...(1) always show...(2) hide when inactive and (3) never show. Just click on the item that represents the icon and you will get a drop down menu to use. Click apply and OK when done.
Keep in mind that you will want some of those things showing...such as your ant-virius etc
