Okay, I need to take files from the computer and put them on to a dvd that plays in a dvd player. Is there any free software that can do that? (All of the programs I have tried so far play the disk on the computer, but not the dvd player)

I recently installed a new geforce mx 4000 128 mb video card and now my mouse pointer is able to go off very far to the right of the screen, its very annoying because it won't stop at the edge of the screen like it used to.

I'm often left scratching my head at this, as common sense would tell them that they're not helping anyone by giving nonsense or inaccurate information. Why is the whole two points reward worth sooo much to some people around here?

Hi,
I was working on excel and I'm SURE I saved the document before shutting off pc, but I can't find it anywhere.
It is REALLY important.

I know what it was called, but it ain't there.

Is there anyway that excel would have backed up the file by itself - even though I didn't save?

I am sorta hoping there is some file I can look in, like a temporary sort of folder, where stuff is kept that wasn't saved?
I turned my pc off in the middle of the night when I was half asleep, so maybe I hadn't saved before that.

Please help if you can!!!!!

my pc freezes up, when i reboot, i get an error msg saying the file system folder Fat32 blah blah (can't remember and then)
run a disk check as one or more of your disks may be unstable. press any key to skip the test, however it is recommended that you continue...(then there's a number countdown and it runs down unless you press any key to avoid the test).
what is wrong with my puter??? i've just ad extra ram installed. puter woulnt take more than 256mb ram...so it was installed 128 and 128 alongside each other since we couldnt add 256 along with the 128...oh dear, wot now...is this fixable?? pls help. my pc has FROZEN up 4/5 times today alone, its never done this before other than yesterday...the mouse wont move, nothing, not control alt delete to bring up task manager...had to reboot...

I have recieved a file which i know contains architects drawings. It is an ink file. Does anyone know how to open this type of file or what created it or how i can convert it to another format which is easier to work with. It's really p***ing me off please help!

Every time I turn on my computer, I am getting about 20-30 windows popping up. All of them are from Google and are about video games. I have no idea why and don't know how to stop it. Does anyone know? I will try explain it better if i need to. Thank you very much in advance!!!!

has anyone else noticed that tiscali email system is very slow since they have upgraded their inboxes from 10mb to 100mb?

i have tried to get my mail from varoius computers at home and at work and it take forever to open, even thou there is only 2mb used!

Im fed up of my friend constandly downloading the latest cds via some program called Live-Wire?? its a peer to peer program apparently?? Dunno what that it but im sure its not allowed.

I want to stop him doing this but dont really want him to get in really big trouble, is there a place that sends out warning letters or demands that you stop?

i have recently re booted my system and i cant get my sound to work.....i have tried to install drivers and no luck... i cant find anywhere i can download the sound card SIS 963(well i think thats it) i have downloaded many drivers and there is still a yellow mark beside my multimedia control device.......Plz help its driving me mad!!!!!!

the thing is that at work, i have an old MSN version, I can add contacts directly with no problems at all and chat with them and everything.....

when i return home and use the MSN live messenger, i found that I am not able to send to them any messages, I cannot know their status, the MSN tells me that the person is not in my contact list, and tells me to (click here) to add him, i click on the icon but nothing happens...

any help plz??? btw, i use a yahoo email address, i don't know if that will make a difference or not...

I need to buy an external hard drive for back-up specific purposes. I will be using this drive to back up two (maybe three) different computers on a weekly basis. Any recommendations for brands/types? I am looking for ease (such as a firewire type thing. Hook up and go), cost (average cost) and space (how much do should I get). It keeps emitting the sound even though it shuts down, until I unplug it. This keeps happening to me quite frequently in the last 3 weeks or so. It has done this in the past, but lately, it seems to be getting worse.

I've already asked several people about the problem. They told me it's overheating and to keep it clean it with air can. I do that all the time, but I am spending too much money on air cans. it's properly ventilated etc.

I even went so far as to open the side and blast a big fan on it, just so I could keep it running for at least a couple of hours to get my work done.

Another computer I had 3 years ago never had this problem. What is wrong?

A friend of my brother-in-law built my computer from parts:
512 mb of ram,
1.67 Ghz,
AMD Athlon XP 2000,
