yeah i know ink files are rare coz i'd never heard of them. I tihnk what i was told were architects drawing may be more like idiot builders using a glorified etch a sketch. But i still cant open it. Thanks for the advice so far.

A clever d**k, do you not think i've tried a google search already and yes corel draw would open it but seeing as i downloaded a trial version from their site which then refused to work coz it's full of glitches i thought i'd ask here. The word 'muppet' springs to mind regarding your answer!

Ink files are created on a tablet pc; according to this site
http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=INK
they can be opened with later versions of MS Word.

Are you sure??

.ink files aren't very common. I think they're created on a handheld tablet.

Can't imagine an architect's drawings being created in this way.

Edit: Just a thought but is it definitely a .ink file? not a .lnk (Link) which someone has sent to you by mistake instead of the actual file?

Here you can find a free download of GIMP: [link]

GIMP is a free program you can use for a bunch ot tasks like photo retouching, image authoring and image composition. In my opinion it is the best free photo editing software on the market. It's not as powerful as photoshop, but it's free and can be augmented with plugins and extensions. These features make it the most advanced free photo-retouching software. GIMP can be used as a simple paint program or a complex image-manipulation software (thanks also to to a very advanced scripting interface)

Instead of asking the question here why not type .ink file type in a search engine, the answer is at the top of the list

CorelDraw is what you need
