run a disk check as one or more of your disks may be unstable. press any key to skip the test, however it is recommended that you continue...(then there's a number countdown and it runs down unless you press any key to avoid the test).

I would strongly suggest Backing up all your data, as soon as you can. Try doing it anyway you can.

And then get a new PC.

The error you are getting is due to bad secotrs on your hard drive, and it needs to be replaced.

If you can run windows in safe mode (press F8 a few times after turning the computer on, and choose safe mode) you should be able to run some disk diagnostics (right click on my computer and select "manage".)

Good luck, but please save your data 1st.

FAT32 is an older Windows file system, and not that stable. Converting the disk to NTFS might work if you are running WIndows 2000 or later. There is also a chance your hard drive is going bad. Either way, your computer has Alzheimers right now- it might get better, but not likely. Try start\ run and type in chkdsk -this will inspect your disk and try to fix it. Also, try to defrag your hard disk- shoud be start\ programs\ Accessories\ System Tools. If you have never run it before, you might have to do it many times- it takes a while, and you can't really use your computer when it is running, so plan around it. If the chkdsk cannot fix it, run it again after the defrag is done- it might have better luck on a clean disk.

What're the results of the test?

When XP's running a FAT drive, by default after an unclean reboot it will want to check the drive, and will keep prompting you to check and repair it. This is because it can't be sure that it's written to everywhere it wanted to, so it's got to check for unexpected file ends.

I would imagine there is some problem with the PC not related to the hard drive that is causing it to crash, and give you the error/test on boot.

Are you sure it was the right ram installed? What happens when you take the new stick out?

easyest way it's to reformat hdd but u'll loose all ur information. if ur info it's precious take out the hdd from ur pc and go to a friend put it in his sitem: if u'r hdd it's meesed up use a software recovery tool to regain ur data back ..use something like "search and recover software u should find it on google". ur fat 32 filesystem has errors. The file system it's that "thing" that let's u store data on ur hdd.

fat and fat32 (fat 32 is the 32 bit version) should only be used on older systems. use the newer NTFS for windows xp
