My computer is over 4 years old, but I don't have a scanner and I don't have a cd burner. I can load a cd onto the computer and play it but I am unable to save a document or a photo to a cd....I guess you need a cd burner for that......I'd rather wait until I buy a new computer and just get all that then instead of adding to this old dinosaur.....

Anyway, I've heard that there are places you can go and take documents or photos and inexpensively have them scanned onto a disc. Someone at work said I can even do that at Wal-Mart for only 3 bucks, but that sounds wrong.

You know, when a person has a fire, the first thing they try to grab are the photos and old letters that can never be replaced. I would love it if I could scan all these to a disc and keep in a safety deposit box and then never worry about losing them.

Do any of you have any suggestions?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question!
Robin

I´m coming back from 2 weeks of vacation tomorrow and am not looking forward to dealing with my inbox at work. I am sure I will have easily between 500-800 pieces of email that all have to be read. What is a good strategy for dealing with all the emails? Start reading by sender, by subject, by date sent, something else?
I would love to just delete all, but that won't work.
Appreciate your suggestions.

I am doing an argumentative essay and I need to set it up in two columns but the title has to be stretched across the two columns as the heading. My instructor said that we would get bonus points if we figured this out. I have researched but I am not coming up with anything. Help!!!

When moving my curser, it often "sticks" for up to several seconds. This happens offline as well as online. I've tried using a different mouse, but that doesn't help. Running XP.

My brother works in I.T at a computer for 7+ hours a day. He had very bad tendonitis, and still gets it, but now to a lesser degree.
He has already got the ergonomic desk, monitor angle and specialist vertical mice/keyboard, powerball etc but it has not solved the problem, only lessened it slightly.

The standard NHS doctor is not really good enough, he has seen a physical therapist but the exercises haven’t really helped.

Can anyone recommend a doctor, physiotherapist, Alexander technique person etc etc etc who SPECIALIZES in working with people that have developed tendonitis as a result of working in I.T/with computers? I want someone that specifically works with people in that field and can offer specialist help that will suit him.

Many thanks!
All appreciated!

What is the actual difference between DVD-R and DVD+R? I know that DVD-Rs are likely to be more compatible with DVD players than +Rs but why? Is there a physical difference or format?

OK I know next to nothing about computers but have an overwhelming urge to learn about them by building my own high-spec custom with the guidance of a willing friend. Where is the best place to learn the basics/ look at parts etc etc?

Cheers!

PS, I'm in the UK if this is at all relevant!

I've just switched my computer on and the sound isn't working even though it was fine y'day. I've tried re-starting it and i've plugged in skype head phones to see if it was just the speakers but nothing is working. I've also ran a virus check and it hasn't found any viruses. Can anyone help?
