My computer is over 4 years old, but I don't have a scanner and I don't have a cd burner. I can load a cd onto the computer and play it but I am unable to save a document or a photo to a cd....I guess you need a cd burner for that......I'd rather wait until I buy a new computer and just get all that then instead of adding to this old dinosaur.....

Anyway, I've heard that there are places you can go and take documents or photos and inexpensively have them scanned onto a disc. Someone at work said I can even do that at Wal-Mart for only 3 bucks, but that sounds wrong.

You know, when a person has a fire, the first thing they try to grab are the photos and old letters that can never be replaced. I would love it if I could scan all these to a disc and keep in a safety deposit box and then never worry about losing them.

Do any of you have any suggestions?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question!

Honestly, I don't recommend going to any of the Kodak kiosks at Walmarts for your photo discs. The photo quality is severely diminished compared to what a high-resolution scan could produce.

You may have better luck at an office solutions style of store, such as Kinko's?

Usually office supply stores have a copy/scanning/fax service.

Staples may do this...or look in the yellow pages for inventory/copy control experts.
