you will need to buy a router, to share the connection, since i used to work for a dsl company(aol)..
a netgear dg834g will do the job nicely and u can get this from good high street store. like pcworld, etc.. or something like ebay.

You will need a router. You can get one at any electronic store (Best Buy, etc.) or Walmart for $40-50.
You run the cable from your DSL modem into the back of the router. It will then split the signal so that you can attach both PCs to the router and use them both on the Internet at the same time.
If either of your laptops has a wireless card in it, be sure that you get a router with wireless 810.11g included. This will give out a wireless signal that your laptop can attach to for access. (If they do not have a wireless card, you can get those also for around $40 to plug into the laptops USB port to give it wireless access.)

u need a router...do wireless networking....and u can....have as many pc and laptop u want to use...there was one time when our whole family still lived together....we have at least.....4 computers sharing one connection

either wireless or wired router will let u use up to 4 pc . it doesn't matter desktop of laptop.altogether 4.
