Ok, so I have this old emachine tower and I wanted to get it running with linux ubuntu because I think its a pretty neat software and all i do is browse the internet so why not. Anyways I had used this computer about....5 months back till the cheap hard drive went out on me. So I look in the case and than i saw the mother board.......Holy Crap!! Now, I think this is bad but Im not computer engineer so ill ask you. Ok I don't know what they are called but its the thing on the back of the motherboard where you plug you extra stuff into like extra usb ports, modems , and that sourt of stuff. But the last one looks like it was ripped right of the mother board. Does this mean that the motherboard is unuseable? Or will it still work?

The last two computers i had were hp and i got them from best buy...which i will never do again, but we just got a compaq computer as a gift and i was wondering why they are so cheap, does stuff go wrong with them frequently? are they bad computers?

I have a 6 month old pc with vista. I brought it to Staples and they sold me an S cable. I plugged that in to my laptop and the tv. Now I am trying to get the laptop to be viewed through the tv??? My grandson put a photo disk in the drawer (not all the way, seated in the slot) and tried to force it closed. Now it will not show the pictures on my computer. Can this be fixed, I have tried all five disks of photos and none of them will show up on the computer screen, the light on the tower just keeps blinking.
John is there anything I can do, except call a geek?

Purchased an Acer 5633WLMi laptop for xmas it has a bluetooth icon and light on the front of the laptop but have searched the computer and cannot find any mention of the bluetooth settings to set it up. does this mean it does not have this function built in ?? how can i def make sure - any advice appreciated , thanks

My laptop froze last night, i turned it off (by pressing on button over 5 secs) and today i tried to boot it but all i had was the fan starting sound, it has power the ac adapter is working fine, the "on" led stays on and the power led stays on too, but the screen is black and i can't even boot from the cdrom, i tried to switch monitors (external/internal) but it wasn't that.

anyone has any idea?

How come Nero Cracked programs Don't work with 64 bit X2 Dual core Processors?

My Computer then causes, windows to give a 'Starting Error'.

I just bought a 15.4 " VueScape LCD widescreen monitor, and when I hooked it up to my computer, all the colors are way-off, and I cannot adjust the resolution, or color quality. I tried adjusting these properties with the old monitor, as the manual suggested, but it still didn't work. I also cannot find a site with a driver (if necessary) and the monitor came with no disc to install programs if necessary. The only way it works, is to turn the computer on with the old monitor, and hook the new one up while the computer is still on. Help?

I've always wanted my own laptop,because the one I use, I can't get on until 7:00PM every night because it's also my dad's laptop for work. And, I sometimes need to get homework done, and I can't because the computer is not home. My birthday is January 22, and I really want my own computer..I don't really like laptops though, so I'm going to ask for a desk top..[laptops are waaay more expensive than desktops], so should I ask for one? Or would it be a bad idea? Oh, and I'm asking my grandparents for the computer, and they are sorta rich, so I'm sorta fine, but I still think that its too much.
