If they are stand alone speakers or intergrated into monitor, you BUY NEW SPEAKERS
replace the headphone type cable of old ones with thea one to new ones
enjoy

If you have space in your house, go on craigslist and buy a used stereo receiver and two big speakers; alternatively, you could buy a used shelf system like the kind Aiwa makes. You can probably get the whole lot for under $50, and it will beat the crap out of any 2.1 system (two little speakers and subwoofer) you might find. Plus, you can also use it to listen to the radio. It hooks up to the computer as easily as computer speakers. You just need a cable with a mini-jack (the plug you find on headphones) on one end, and RCA plugs (one red, one white) on the other.

You can purchase larger speakers at any computer store, at Radio Shack, or from Dell at http://www.dell.com - they just plug into the audio out plug on the back of the computer.

Just buy bigger, more powerful speakers. You can spend anywhere from $5.00 up to $1000.00 on computer speakers.
