ok. right i have a dell inspiron 6400. okay it is all high tech and i love it, and when i shut download the is usually icons to choose is i what to shut down, hibernate etc. but one day my computer switched of and i could not get it to load so i went to to a boot menu when i swithed of and on and then pressed f12. now it is working and now it iis gone oldish type and i have to scroll to choose what i want to do. okay so the question is what happened and how can i put it back to normal.

Our hp pavillion dv2125nr laptop, has begun to get very hot when my kids play games with a lot of graphics.

It does not cut off when getting hot. It has melted a plastic lapdesk and deformed a plastic table.

Could this be how the software or computer is configured? Does it sound like a mechanical problem (fan issue?)

This is an "entertainment PC" only a year old. When we bought it they (BestBuy) said it should be ok for these games.

We have sent it to Hp once-- came back with the same issue. They say to send it back-- but to back up data first, not responsible for data. I was just wanting to know more about what the problem might be before I send it back again.

I am also trying to find the data files from Zoo Tycoon 2 so that my kids won't lose their saved games. I can't find their profile info on the computer (we use XP).

OK, I'm now in a mood as i have dropped my laptop resulting in....

I have broke the screen as it wont stand up, the actual screen is fine and still works but it just wont stand up with out flopping down again!

Also i have ripped 2 buttons off, but they are non-repairable as i have snapped the little clips they go on to!

I know i can fix the buttons by taking it to a p.c shop! But does any of you know if my screen if beyond reparing? It seems to be that something has snapped causing it not to stand up....

Maaaaan why do i have to be so clumsy!

If so peeps, do u have an idea of the cost aswell?

My laptop has 2 RAM slots of 1GB capacity each. It came with only 512 MB RAM and one empty RAM slot. I purchased and installed addtional 1GB RAM with the following specifications 1GB Laptop 200pin PC2700 DDR333 SODIMM. After installing the RAM, laptop started correctly and the chip was recognised. But after 5 minutes, the system crashed after a memory allocation failure.

Attempts to restart the laptop resulted in BIOS failure and system hang with a shimmering onscreen display.

I did not try to remove the original RAM chip from its slot, fearing that the computer may not start altogether.

The laptop works fine without the new RAM chip, but not with it. I have rechecked the technical specifications of the chip, these match with those specified by the manufacturer.

Please can someone help resolve the problem? Many thanks in advance for your help.

I have XP sp2, and can't find my cd/dvd drive anywhere. It won't open, no lights come on. I'd download an updated driver, but since I can't figure out what I have it makes it hard. Could it be dead?

i have a dell inspiron 1200 and all of a sudden it stoped playing DVD's... the drive is a CD/DVD drive so it playes all kinds. it used to play the DVD's and now all it dose is start to spin and then clicks a little then stops. but CD's work perfectly and also CD games work. it is just DVD's won't play any more..... HELP!

PLEASE DON'T ANSWER IF YOU ARE JUST GOING TO SAY SOMETHING DUMB... I REALY NEED TO KNOW WHATS WRONG.

it dose this with all DVD's and thay are all perfect. no scraches...

There is no indication that the laptop is "alive". When the battery charger is plugged there should be the "charging" light on, but there isn't. It's completely blacked out. What I did before I shut it down last time is I installed a Ubuntu Linux distro late night, logged in to Windows once, and shut it down.

For a few days now, my laptop screen has been going black while I am using it and will stop responding completely. When I cut off the power and try to start it up again, it won't most of the time. When it does start up, it will always show the black screen and stop responding after a few minutes. What is wrong with it?

How can I save money quickly? I'm around 12-14.
I saw Disney Channels Original Movie 'Read it and Weep' and I really want the laptop shes got. I hardly go on the computer but i've love to write a story on a touch screen. Anyway, they're sooo pricy its Unbelievable, so I need to save.
