There is no indication that the laptop is "alive". When the battery charger is plugged there should be the "charging" light on, but there isn't. It's completely blacked out. What I did before I shut it down last time is I installed a Ubuntu Linux distro late night, logged in to Windows once, and shut it down.

Hmm, I've tried removing the battery only for less than a minute. I'll try 10 minutes, ok.

Start by looking at the obvious. Changing the OS shouldn't have caused this problem.

Plug something else into the socket that you have your charger plugged into. Is there power to the socket?

If the socket has power, then maybe your charger burned out. If you have a voltmeter, check it's output voltage. If you know someone that has a compatible charger, see if it works.

Remove the battery and try running the laptop, it could be the battery has gone bad.

Try googling the make & model of the laptop with the words: dead laptop

If none of these things gives you a cause, then you have a more serious problem and you need to make a "repair or replace" desision.

I doubt it has anything to do with installing Ubuntu...Sounds like a hardware failure. Take it to a authorized service agent.

Have you tried removing the battery for 10 minutes?
