Since your so young you might be able to get a work permit, depends on the state, but your best bet is probably to baby sit, or shovel snow if your strong enough, pick up odd jobs, and put the money in a savings account with the highest interest you can find, maybe think about getting a certificate of deposit, you'd need like 500 bucks, and you have to leave the money in at least 6 months, but the interest rates are much better. Look around to see if you can find the computer cheaper also, or see if you can find a similar one for less.

Start doing chores and saving up all your allowances. So no more buying things with your allowance. Get yourself a savings account and put the money in there, and if you already have a savings account, start putting it in there.
When I was about your age, I sold soda pop on the corner of my street for 50 cents a can. I made roughly 500 dollars that summer.
It may take a long time to save up that kind of money, so you maybe begging mommy and daddy to get one for christmas? If you do beg, be sure that you are well behaved from now till your 18. ^.^
And when you're old enough, get a job and start saving that money too.

First thing's first. Go to your parents. Explain to them (calmly and maturely) that you'd like a laptop to write and do school work on. Tell them that you are willing to work and save for it, and ask them if there's any way they can help you. This might range from them giving you more allowance to do extra chores, etc.
If that fails, look into jobs that kids your age can do--baby sitting, dog-walking, snow shoveling, even helping out busy neighbours with their chores (make sure that you know the people you are asking to work for--and tell your parents what you are doing).
The last step is save, save, save! Don't spend your allowance/earnings on other things. Open a savings account at a bank if you can, and leave your money in there.
I remember, when I was younger, I did the same thing (was saving up for a PlayStation, though) and my parents ended up paying for half of it because they saw all the hard work I was doing. It was sweet!
Good luck!

Well what computer is it I like it too? Anyway what you can do is go to Dollar Tree and buy $10.00 worth of wrapping paper and sell it door to door for $1.50 (make sure you go with a buddy if you are under 18) and then take the $ you've earned and use it to buy more wrapping paper and sell it for $1.50 and so you are getting a 50c profit. p.s. If you get a four pack then you can sell it for $5.00!!! Hope this helps!

agree to do some extra chores for you parents for a small raise, and explain to them that it's for a computer, something educational. (don't ask for too much, or your parents won't help you!)
sell some of your old children books that you never read anymore to the library, if they buy books.
sell some of your old clothes to a thrift shop.
ask your neighbors if you can do chores for them.
make cute bracelets or craft items and sell them to your friends. I wouldn't recommend you do this at school, since some schools have strict policies about this, and you can get in trouble.
ask your parents if you can have a garage sale to get rid of some of your old junk.

It doesn't matter the age. You have to have income and then limit your spending. Take the excess money and put it in a savings account or your piggy bank.
This is the same principle that your parents use to save money.
good luck.
