Laptops & Notebooks - December 2007

I'm looking at laptops on line, have never owned one. The one I'm looking at is a dell and the battery life is only 2 hours. I mainly plan to use it in my home. Will I be able to plug it in? It does not mention if it comes with an alternate power source. thanks

My laptop has 2 RAM slots and as of now they both have 512 DDR in them. I am looking to upgrade to 2 GB. My laptop is compatible with both pc2700 and pc3200. I can buy 2 1 GB pc2700 memory upgrades for about $130. I can buy 2 1 GB pc3200 memory upgrades for about $170. Is the extra speed worth the 40 bucks?

Like, if a computer says it has a dual core 1.5 ghz processor, does that mean it has 2 x 1.5 ghz?

Will this processor work for a game that needs 3.0Ghz?

I have an HP laptop, and I never shut it off. I've been wondering though, is it beneficial to shut it down when I'm not using it? Does it really make a difference?

My daughter started pushing buttons and messing with my computer today and now when I push page down or up the screen doesnt go... when I push the directional keys it wont go either. (This is a laptop with a touch pad). Can someone please tell me where to go on my computer to fix this? Its a Sony VAIO if that matters. Thanks to answers.

I am buying an HP dv9500t laptop, and I am wondering whether or not to get a 240 GB 5400 RPM hard drive(free upgrade from 160 GB 5400 RPM), or a 240 GB 7200 RPM hard drive, which is 75 dollars more. I basicly only use a computer for playing games, using Word and Powerpoint, going on the Internet, and playing online games. Will my games run faster with a 7200 RPM hard drive, or will the excess heat from the 7200 RPM hard drive cause everything else to become slower? Note: I have a lot of games, so I need a big hard drive...

I basically use my computer to surf the net, write papers and download music. The majority of the files on my computer are papers, pictures and music. i just purchased a new sony vaio laptop N365E that has windows vista home premium,i found it useless version because it is not supported by most of the common programs i use,
my question is.. if i format my pc & install a fresh copy of windows XP,can i install win. vista later from the recovery CD's came with my pc ?

I am thinking of buying a new Vista laptop and was wondering if some computers are easier to switch than others.

My friend installed XP and now her wireless doesn't work!

She says something about drivers? And how can she return to Vista now that her computer won't work properly with XP?

I don't want this to happen to me, I am not sure Vista works well enough.
