I'm getting it custom assembled from NCIX. I'm hoping to keep my budget around $1000. I want this computer to be as fast as possible for mainly watching DVDs and light gaming.

Im not sure if I need to buy a 360 controller with the PC-compatible on it, or if I can use my regular 360 controller with the usb add-on to use as a computer gamepad. Is there software out there to download so I can use my 360 controller?

I was just curious if this power supply would be enough to power a 8600gt or a hd 2600xt or even maybe a x1950pro. Also i have never delt with thermaltake before. Do they make good power supplies.

I am hesitating btw 13.3'' MacBook (2.16GHz Core 2 Duo 1GB/120GB/SuperDrive) and Sony VGN-FZ 190 (T7300, 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo, 15.4" WXGA-HC).
I will work a lot with photos (editing with Photoshop and reviewing).
Specific questions (Sony vs MacBook):
1. Quality of monitor, 15.4" 1280X800 WXGA (HC) vs 13.3'' active-matrix 1280 x 800 TFT/XGA

2. NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GT vs Intel GMA 950 graphics processor with 64MB of DDR2 SDRAM

3. T7300 (2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo) of Sony vs 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook

4. Vista (or XP) vs MacOS v10.4 Tiger

On the other hand, 15.4" vs 13.3'' (of course, on the price of:
• 5.75 lb vs 5.1 lb, and
• 14"x0.98 1.4"x10.02" vs 12.78"X1.08"X8.92"
• They might also have other significant differences that I just don’t understand enough to point out. Please help if I missed something important.

Please suggest.

My CPU had a 1.2GHz processor, and 512RAM and I have a Cable Modem internet connection, and I have a very good anti-virus/anti-spyware program.

I do rutine clean-ups of my hard-drive, and overall my performance is pretty good whether I am opening folders or surfing the web.

Here is the problem - Up until a couple of weeks ago, I have been able to watch Youtube videos with no problem at all. I could click on the video and it would play uninterrupted.

Recently this changed dramatically.

Now when I click on a video, it takes a while to load, then it will play about 3 seconds then buffer for about 5 seconds, then play another 3 seconds, then buffer for 5 seconds, and it will do this all the way to the end.

Some things to note:
#1 This is not limited to Youtube - All videos from all sites behave this way.
#2 The performance of the rest of my computer, including web surfing is still pretty good.
#3 I just installed and additional 512RAM for a total of 1G and it didnt help.

i did a full system recovery on my compaq presario. I had backed up docs, etc. to an external hard drive. The hd must've gotten affected by the recovery--all the files are gone.
Could they still be on the drive, or did they get wiped?
Any help appreciated.

I'm still looking for a $200-250 DX10 video card for my new pc, but got a real dilemma:

1) 8600 GTS OC: decent midrange card suffering from low memory (256mb) and 128-bit bus.

2) 8800 GTS : great high end card. but not in my price range.

I saw this site:

It said an upgraded version of the 8600 GTS should be coming in June 2007 with increased memory (512mb) and a wider memory bus of 256-bit.

However, as of today, I've only seen a 512mb version of 8600gts, but not 256-bit, in north america.

Is there really a 256-bit 8600GTS coming soon?

Booting up, I only get the flashing question-mark insude a file-shaped icon. I don't have my Disk Utility CD along; I'm travelling. Using the Installer CD only gets me to the third step; it doesn't give me any options on the "select destination disk" page. Help!

i'm wanting to reset my computer back to it's factory settings due to errors and constant crashing and things not working properly. But when i go to system restore it only goes back as far as may the 8th 2007 and i'm needing it to go back to when i first got it what am i doing wrong?

I am reformatting my hard disk on my Dell Windows 98 desktop computer. It's a pretty old computer. It's already formatting, and I just realized that my files are getting erased, and I would like to get those files back. Is there any way to backup those files now, or is it too late? I have a Samsung Blackjack that I frequenlty connect to my PC for recharging and file transferring. As long as my phone has some power this works fine. When the device has no power the USB port doesn't recognize that I have plugged anything into it and doesn't start recharging my phone. Unfortunately, today the battery is completely dead and I do not have access to my normal charger. Normally, this isn't an issue, as I just go to my car and recharge the phone for a minute or so to get power. Is there a way on a WinXP PC to force a USB port to send power to a device or to trick the port into thinking there is a device there?

I dont want any bias answers. I want to get a amd turion 64 X2 mobile processor. but i keep hearing intel has a way better processor. is it really that much better. all i'll be doing is school stuff, surfing, and video streaming ( from youtube or whatever), and i'll download music and store pictures. will it make that much of a difference. what does the processor even effect ?

I just bought a Sony Vaio VGN FZ145E laptop from Best Buy. The sales guy told me there was a docking station available (there are only three USB ports on my computer) but that Best Buy did not have any at the time. He told me to check back. Well Best Buy still does not have any nor do any electronic or computer stores. I've searched on-line and called The Sony Style store. The Sony store only carries the latest models. I just bought the darn thing less than two months ago. I've tried E-bay and Amazon. I really need some more USB Ports. What should I do?
