i did a full system recovery on my compaq presario. I had backed up docs, etc. to an external hard drive. The hd must've gotten affected by the recovery--all the files are gone.
Could they still be on the drive, or did they get wiped?
Any help appreciated.

Did you ever check the files on your backup? Maybe you didn't backup properly. The previous comment is correct, a system restore won't affect an external drive.

if your files are on a external hard drive they should still be there... doing a full systems recovery only effects the internal drive.. not the external drive...
