Doing those kinds of things you will see no difference between those two processors.

The Intel Core 2 architecture is superior in every test to AMD's X2, clock for clock. Intels Core 2 also overclocks like a madman (en e4300 at 1.8ghz will overclock to 3.0ghz+ with an aftermarket air cooler).

BUT you're only going to see that difference if you're using CPU intensive apps like:
New games
Lots of photo/video editing with Pro type apps
Video encoding

And not much else.

You could actually get by on a $350 Celeron Laptop, but looking through the ads today, the best for the money is a $449 X2 at one of the big box stores.

For given tasks that puts AMD and Intel along the same line, although AMD edges out with lower price.

Here is up & downs commentary I've seen over the years:
AMD is cheaper than Intel for same grades.

Intel comes with lesser clocking tweak hence better for after-market overclocking (run in overrated speed against the recommandation of manufacturer)

AMD got 64-bit first and more mature in that area.

AMD was doing catching up after value market only except the recent 64-bit.
