My computer is fine for what I use it for, but runs a little slow. I have a DELL with Windows xp home. Pentium 4 cpu 2.4 GHz. 2.39 GHz 384 MB of ram. BCM v.92 56k Voice modem. The capactiy on my hard drive is 37.24 GB. I have 28.4 GB of free space. I use dial up. Is there anything I could do to make it run a LITTLE faster? Also, when I do a disc clean up, I can never seen to delete compressed files. What are they, how can they be deleted or adjusted to not have co many. I think I have 38,000 or more. Thanks. I am trying to make it work for my 12 year old. He needs a computer to do his homework on. It's a Compaq presario 5000 series with windows 98 SE. I have the recovery disk, but whenever I try to impliment it, the computer spits it out. I am a novice but not afraid to try things. help.

When I plug anything into the microphone jack of my dell inspiron 9300, it never reads any incoming audio levels. Why won't the microphone jack work? Is there a sound card or something I need? How can I find out? I use the same microphones on my desktop pc and they work fine so one would assume the microphones themselves are not the problem.

Hello,
I have no idea what this is called, but once I figured out how to go 'back in time' on my computer by fixing the computer settings to go back to a time before I made any changes to it. It goes back to however the computer settings were before I changed anything?! I was wondering if someone could tell me what that is called on here, and also what I need to do to get to that part of the computer to fix things! Thanks

I need to update my graphic driver for latest version....because of that freaking ialmrnts error...... so I went to intel hompage and downloaded drivers,, But none,,, fit to my graphic card.....It seems fit to me but when I try to install it, it says it is not,,,,,so I can't install it.

Do you know what graphic driver I should download?? for this graphic card?

So my dad says his computer takes Rambus.....I've never heard of Rambus but he says they are small strips of Ram that you can stack. Maybe Im wrong but the only Rambus I have ever heard about was RDRAM by Rambus Inc. Help me out. Thanks.

I don't wanna modify my PC hardwere. Is there an adapter to convert the digital signal of the PC to the analoge signal of my CRT TV.That would take out the bluur so i can type and surf the web.If there isnt an adapter for my application, can u tell me how i can without modifying the PC hardware? i recently built a custom computer and it worked fine while i was installing a os and testing out my fps in various games :) anyway after about 8 hours the computer wouldnt turn on anymore. It seemed to freeze whenever i turned it on. After poking around for a bit i noticed that soon after turning on the northbridge chipset got EXTREMELY hot, too hot to even slightly touch the heatsink. so i sent it back to asus and received a new one. I put the beast back together and it still doesnt work, but the northbridge chipset isnt as hot now. im at a loss for this, i have even stripped it down to bare minimum components and i get a instantly frozen computer and nothing on my screen. below are my components:

im still a kid so please answer something i can understand :( , im using a toshiba satellite j11 with a trackball and i also bought a new mouse and when i inserted it in the usb port it auto installed (i guess it did). so now im using the pc with 2 cursor controllers and my problem is that it clicks by itself..even though i didnt click it. i play online games and i noticed that my character in the game is walking by itself!! :( and clicking stuff...and right now typing this question is hard because if the cursor is left on top, maybe 10 seconds later, the insertion point will transfer to the place where the cursor points...somebody heeelp! :(
