I have a 2WIRE router connected to my PC with SBC Yahoo DSL. I purchased a laptop and would like to set it up for wireless. I got a wireless card for the laptop, but do I need to download SBC Yahoo DSL to the laptop for it to work? Will I need to order a disk from SBC to download it? Help????

i'm tryin 2 set up a network at home. i have 2 laptops which both connect 2 the inet through a router. 1 *an Acer* is wireless and the other *sony* is connect through the LAN.
after i set up the network *done on the acer and i used a USB stick to make it on the sony.
when i go in2 the Computers in this Workgroup *on both computers* it only shows the acer. is there a reason the sony laptop doesnt show up anywhere? i cant see printers connected to it or use it with any administrator tools.
please help.

Don't any of you go out to work. Are you old, disabled or lonely that you have to be here all the time. Me???????????? I do lots of work inbetween. I did my garden from 9am till 3.30pm and have tons of ironing to do later and some paper work. I come and see you. I go and work. and when I come back for a rest you are STILL on here!!!!!!If you have nothing to do come and help me out. Im near Heathrow...you can help while you are waiting for a flight. We have a main family computer, which has a normail broadband wire connection. I have just got a laptop (wireless enabled) and I want to be able to use the internet on it. My dad however doesn't like me messing about too much with the computer, so I was wondering if there was some way I could put some kind of extension on our present modem to make it wireless for my laptop, while not changing anything on the family computer? I did get a wireless router and try and just go for it, but we've been having a nightmare installing it, so I'm wondering if there is an easier way? Any help gratefully received! K x

I have a wireless router, and am really concerned that people could be hacking into my connection. I have Norton internet security and firewall, is this enough to protect me? Is there anyway through looking at my settings can I detect other users?

I have set up a NETGEAR wireless network in my house. Can i unplug my wireless and take it to another house to be able to connect to the same router, just plugged in at a different phone line. Help much appreciated!

Though I have tured off windows firewall.Then also same message is showing and I am unable to connect Internet but connected on network.My LAPTOP is IBM make R51, Type 2887,Windows Xp Home edition preinstalled,with service pack2.
The network setting received by my LAPTOP from DHCP server is as follows.

actually i just got the ADSL connection at home and I got the wireless modem...the modem extends to a very wide range and I don't want the neighbors to tak the advantage of that connection...so that i want to know the exact steps to limit the connection..I know that it might be relevant to a secuity certificate or something like that...I have my university network security certificate but i didn't know how to utlize it for home connection.....my system is win XP home edition...I will be thankful if you can show me the exact steps ?

I have 2 computers, one is messed up. I reinstalled it a fed days ago, and i installed all the drivers, however the internet icon always shows limited or no connectivity.it is a IBM ThinkPad R50e 1834 type. i used windows loopback adaptor, but it won't work! can some one help me???

For those who were wondering, I just tried logging in thru the sign-up then the link if you already have a profile thing and I recieved his message:
