As long as they have internet service, yes you can connect to their network.
If they already have a wireless router and network configured, all you need to do is "Check for available wireless network," and click "Connect" on their network name.
If they don't have a wireless router or network, you can use your Netgear device, but it may need to be reconfigured to match their internet connectivity type.
For instance, if they have DSL service, you will need to reconfigure the Netgear to reflect the PPPoE seetings from the DSL modem. And then change the DSL modem to act as a bridge.
But, if they have cable internet service like Comcast, all you need to do is hookup the Netgear straight to the cable modem.
You should be good to go. :-)

It's not quite that easy. If they have a cable modem, you will need to turn off the cable modem at the other house for a few minutes, then plug up everything... turn on the cable modem first, then the wireless router then the computer.
If the other house has DSL, you may have to program the user name and password into the wireless router too.
If they only have a dial up, then I have no idea.
If you just want to bring you PC/laptop to the other house, you should have no problems with that, but you may need their password/passkey if that have security enabled. good luck.
